Historically, Indonesia was once recognized as a resource-rich country and a commodity exporter.  As time is changing fast, the structure of Indonesia’s economy has altered significantly in the last twenty years. It creates exciting new opportunities day by day.

Local and multi-national businesses have increasingly benefited from the country's abundant mineral wealth, oil, natural gas and other reserves through secondary processing and industrial manufacturing.  And taking a leading role in these developments is PT. Polytama Propindo (Polytama), a significant manufacturer of polypropylene resin.

Polytama's production facilities always respond to a rapid increase in demand for polypropylene (popular with the name ‘PP’).  Speaking of the industry’s future in Indonesia, they are as committed as the previous company's shareholders, PT. Tirtamas Majutama, BP Chemicals and Nissho Iwai Corporation.  A competitive yet motivating working environment is also shared among the current shareholders, PT. Tuban Petrochemical Industries and Pasio Investment BV (Pasio).

Scheduled to be completed in 24 months, the company's US$ 200,000,000 production facilities are situated on a 25 hectare site close to Pertamina UP VI refinery which supplies the company with propylene.  The production site is located on the north coast of Java, with the main highway stretching over Jakarta, Surabaya the second largest city and a gateway to eastern Indonesia.

Java, as the home of major consumers of industrial goods, was chosen for the best. Within months of the company’s opening Polytama had been operating at full capacity in the equivalent of 100,000 metric tons a year.  This level of production proved to support about a quarter of demand in Indonesia in 1995.

Polytama offers its product range under the distinctive brand name, Masplene.  The company has a well-established distribution network accross Java; Greater Jakarta and Bandung in the west, Semarang and Solo in the central and Surabaya in the east.

A customer-first focus has always been the focus of Polytama.  Their marketing team develops customer partnership programs and well-established alliances to determine applicable resins to meet manufacturing conditions at customer factories and technical specifications of the desired final products. Also, as an integral part of a first-rate customer services the marketing team have access to technical support group which conducts after-sale customer site visits.
