Improving the Community"s Economy through Food Cart (Gerobak Rejeki)
PON donated 6 units of food carts to help the economy of the local community within Ring 1 after being affected by the pandemic.
Improving Community Health
To improve the quality of the local community in terms of health, PON cooperated with the Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Gresik Regency to organize blood donation activities. On a separate occasion, PON also donated 25 liters of disinfectant, 25 liters of hand sanitizer, 50 boxes of protective masks, and meal boxes for residents of Tlogopojok who are in solitary confinement (isoman) due to Covid-19.
Educational Development for the Community
PON took part in the Banten Institute of Petrochemical Industry with other companies of similar industry, and the Ministry of Industry of the Republic of Indonesia.
PON helped in creating the program to meet the industry’s standards, accepted internship students, and provided lecturers. In collaboration with the Local Youth Association (Karang Taruna) of Pangaskarto, Lumpur Village, the area around the factory, PON provided 24 Special Scholarships for Junior High (Kejar Paket B) and Senior High Students (Kejar Paket C).
PON organized vlogging training for young people around the operational area. There were 5 young men who attended the training and hopefully, the training would help their future in the creative industry.
Donations
Throughout 2022, there were 4 routine activities of Prayer and Donation for Orphans of the Ring 1 Area of Tlogopojok and Lumpur Villages. On a separate occasion, PON also donated 800 packages of the Eid al-Fitr 1443 H celebration to the same residents. Meanwhile, in welcoming the Eid alAdha 1443 H, PON donated 22 sheep to the same residents, as well as local police and education institutions.
Employment, Occupational Health and Safety
PON’s commitment to ensuring employment practices comply with the law and are always in harmony to keep the atmosphere positive. All employees are treated fairly and will not be discriminated against regardless of ethnicity, religion, race, class, gender, and social class.
In 2022, PON had conducted several programs to protect the health and safety of its employees. Booster vaccinations were given to employees and families. The Quality Control Assurance and Health Safety Environment Division held a simulation of using Fire Extinguishers which was attended by representatives of all divisions. There were also routine inspections on the Fire Truck by the Company’s Health, Safety and Environment Team.
Environmental Responsibility – Food Grade and Halal Certification, Responsible Waste Management
PON is one of Indonesia’s largest Liquid CO2 producers, with a capacity of 25,500 tons each year. The exhausted CO2 is converted (recovered) into Liquid CO2 and hence, minimizing air pollution. PON’s Liquid CO2 had met the food grade standard with 97.91% Domestic Component Level (TKDN); Halal certified.
PON has 3 methods for managing waste – Incineration, Active Sludge, Neutralization. PON conducted regular analysis of its waste disposal and noise levels around the factory, and reports the environmental quality to the local Environmental Institution in Gresik. In 2022, the Food Safety System Certification (FSSC) 22000 V5.1 training was also conducted for employees to ensure Liquid CO2 always according to the food grade standard and Halal certification.
Environmental Responsibility – Clean Village Competition and Trash Can Donation
PON celebrated its 24th birthday by organizing a “Clean Village Competition” for residents of the Ring 1 area. The competition covered various aspects from cleanliness, greenery, drainage, energy saving, Covid-19 response, and art. The total prizes reached more than Rp20 million. PON also donated 100 trash cans for the local residents.
